The Baptism In The Holy Ghost

“Have You Received the Holy Ghost Since You Believed?”

6 Reasons why you should want to receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and pray in tongues

1. Praying in tongues builds your faith.

Jude 1:20 (KJV) 20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, Some think you have to be “spiritually up” and anointed to pray in tongues, but praying in the Spirit builds our faith. If you need victory, pray in tongues.

2. Praying in the prayer language brings you spiritual rest.

Isaiah 28:11-12 (KJV) 11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. 12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary (faint, thirsty) to rest; and this is the refreshing (rest):

3. Praying in the Holy Spirit can help us better understand the truth of God’s Word and His guidance.

John 16:13 (KJV) 13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come.

4. Praying in tongues, as the Spirit impresses us can “take care of things”: before they happen. Have you ever been awaken in the middle of the night to pray and not know what to pray or how? Praying in the Spirit helps us in that circumstance.

Romans 8:26 (KJV) 26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

5. Praying in the prayer language gives us a “direct line” to God. The Holy Spirit can talk to God in ways we cannot.

1 Corinthians 14:2 (KJV) 2 For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.

6. Praying in the Spirit acclimates us to the realm of the Gifts of the Spirit. This is a stepping stone to the other gifts.

*For these six reasons you can see that speaking in tongues is much more than just a sign of the Holy Spirit’s Baptism.

Recorded instances of people receiving the Baptism of the Holy Spirit in Acts

1. The Day of Pentecost: ·          Acts 2:4 (KJV) 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

2. The people in the town of Samaria: ·          Acts 8:15-18 (KJV) 15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: 16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) 17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost. 18 And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,

3.   Apostle Paul was baptized with the Holy Spirit:

Acts 9:17 (KJV) 17 And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.

4.   At Cornelius’ House:

Acts 10:45-46 (KJV) 45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. 46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,

5.   The disciples of John the Baptist in Ephesus:

Acts 19:1-6 (KJV) 1 And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples, 2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. 3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John’s baptism. 4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. 5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.

2.   How do I receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit?

Realize that the Baptism of the Holy Spirit comes by faith just like salvation, healing or anything else received from God. God wants you to receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. ·

Luke 11:13 (KJV) 13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is an act of faith. You must step out in faith after you have asked to receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and begin to speak as the spirit gives you utterance.

In Acts 2:1-4 the Word never said that the Holy Spirit spoke in tongues or took them over and spoke; He is a gentleman. It says they spoke as the Spirit gave them the utterance. This means He told them what to say or how to say it; then they spoke the words. No one can tell you what to say or lead you in a language.

Acts 2:1-4 (KJV) 1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
